Start your lab

Start when you are ready

This practice needs active module access. Non-customers can read the instructions, but cannot start a lab or open its tools.

  1. In this course workspace, press Start lab session once.
  2. Leave the learning page open while the lab starts. The time estimate is only an estimate; repeatedly pressing Start will not make it faster.
  3. Wait until Open development environment and Open Simulation appear.

If all labs are busy, the page explains that it is waiting for capacity. You have not lost your course or saved work. If it reports an error, read the message and use the support link rather than starting multiple tabs.

Recognize the states

  • Starting: your lab is being prepared. Wait for the Open actions.
  • Ready: you can open the tools and simulation.
  • Reconnecting: the page is checking a session that already exists.
  • Expiring: a warning offers a choice to extend or finish.
  • Ending/saving: wait for saving to finish before starting another session.

There is no need to wait for an expiry warning during this lesson. Later lessons show you where the session controls are and how to use them.

Outcome

Distinguish starting, ready, reconnecting, expiring, and ended sessions.

Practical check

  • Start the assigned lab and identify when the development environment and simulation are ready.
