Save, leave, and return

Make a small practice file

Use the file browser inside the development-environment window, not your own computer’s file browser. Open Documents → Projects → Getting Started - 01 - Navigating Your Lab.

Create a new text document named My lab practice.txt, open it, type a short note you will recognize, and save it. A blank text document can be created with the folder’s right-click New → Text Document action. Do not replace an existing file. Getting Started needs no starter project or programming steps.

Files saved here follow you between sessions. Unsaved edits inside an application are not the same as saved files. Save before ending the lab.

Close and reopen a window

  1. Close only the development-environment browser tab.
  2. On the learning page, press Open development environment again.
  3. Confirm the same session and your practice file are still there.

If your computer sleeps or the connection drops, return to the learning page and use Open again for a fresh connection. If the session has already ended, start it again and recover your saved file. Do not open a second simulation tab as a fix.

Finish and come back

  1. Save and close your practice document.
  2. Press End session on the learning page. Wait until ending/saving completes.
  3. Start a new lab session, open the development-environment window and reopen My lab practice.txt from the same folder. Confirm your note is there.
  4. End the practice session again when finished.

Only after doing these tasks, mark this lesson complete and check I can use my lab independently. The portal records your confirmation; it does not automatically inspect the file or certify a skill because you watched a video.

Outcome

Save work in the project folder and recover after closing a window or a session.

Practical check

  • Save a named file in the project folder, reopen a closed window, then end and reopen the lab to find the file.

Open course workspace → Lessons are free to read. Lab practice requires active module access.
